McCook

McCook was est. in 1882. This community offers small-town living at its finest. It features a beautiful historic district including homes of Governor Ralph G. Brooks, the Boyhood Home of Governor and U.S. Senator Benjamin Nelson, the home of Governor Frank B. Morrison, the Senator George W. Norris State Historic Site, the Norris Bandshell, and the Frank Lloyd Wright’s Sutton House.

McCook is also an area that provides endless outdoor entertainment. Heritage Hills Golf Course, Kelly Creek Disc Golf, All-American Ball Parks, Bowling, Sand Volleyball, Skatepark, Swimming, Tennis, YMCA, and several parks are just the beginning of all the community has to offer.

Home of the McCook Bison, our community is very fortunate to have excellent public and private schools for grades K-12. McCook Community College is Nebraska’s first 2-year college. One of the best features of Southwest Nebraska is hunting and fishing. McCook sits in the prime location for both. The State Recreation and Wildlife Management Areas offer roughly 19,000 areas of public hunting land. Pheasant, Quail, Waterfowl, Rabbit, and both Whitetail & Mule Deer can be hunted. Red Willow lake is just 11 miles north of McCook. Medicine Creek is 25 miles East and located 24 miles West is Swanson Lake. At all 3 you will find amazing fishing, boating, sailing, and camping!
